Interventionists
The Tobacco Quitline has staff available to make sure you know that calling us was a good step. Our interventionists are trained to help you take an initial step in making a decision about your tobacco cessation. They will ask you questions about how you heard of the Quitine, if you are ready to quit now or later, some demographic information to track characteristics of callers, and to make sure we have your full address, phone numbers and e-mail address. They will also provide referral information if you are looking for other services in your area. They may also check back with you if you are not ready to make a decision but are still thinking about it.
Counselors
The Tobacco Quitline's counselors are all masters degree level, mental/behavioral health professionals with special training in tobacco cessation support. They have completed the Tobacco Specialists' Training and many are Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialists. They have had experience in helping people make decisions to change behavior in order to be healthier and will help you develop a quit plan, know your triggers and difficult challenges, and make lifestyle changes that will help you achieve the most success.
The Tobacco Quitline management staff has a combined twenty-six years working in tobacco cessation. Many of the counselors have been employed with the quiltine for more than three years.
